Year 8 students enjoy virtual author event
Posted on: 09/07/2020On Wednesday 8th July, the whole of Year 8 was invited to take part in a virtual event with award-winning author, Teri Terry. Following her visit to Didcot Girls' School in March as part of our celebrations for World Book Day, Teri's futuristic thrillers have been a big hit in the school library, and we were pleased to see so many of our students taking up the opportunity to hear about her latest book, Dark Blue Rising.
Following a welcome from Teri, students had the opportunity to watch the book trailer and a reading from the brand new book. Teri then asked students what their impressions from the trailer were, and what they thought might happen at the end of the reading. A text chat function allowed students to share their ideas and it was wonderful to be reminded of what great young storytellers we have in our school!
Finally, Teri answered students' questions about writing and her books, and students clearly relished the opportunity to have a 'live' conversation with someone who is quickly becoming one of their new favourite authors!
Teri's new book, Dark Blue Rising is released today and will be available from the school library from September. If you can't wait until then, you can get hold of a copy that includes a book plate signed by Teri here.
