'And the winners of a £1000 donation are..... 9LJC!' They are the words heard this week at the end of an amazing project for Year 9s called First Give. Since Easter, students from DGS have been tackling social issues by supporting local charities as part of a programme provided by educational charity First Give. Year 9 students have engaged in direct social action and a wide range of fundraising activities in support of their tutor group's chosen charity, raising hundreds of pounds and considerable awareness for some very good causes. The Final showcased the work each tutor group had undertaken, and those present witnessed an impressive standard of presentation, with creativity and oracy skills in abundance. Unfortunately, there could only be one group could be awarded the winner, and that went to 9LJC for their support and work on behalf of Blue Skye Thinking, a local charity who support treatment and research into childhood brain tumours. 

Didcot Girls' School and 9LJC in particular, are delighted that they have managed to win a £1000 for such an excellent cause.
