Year 12 Geographers Visit Oxford University Geography Department
Posted on: 20/09/2018On Thursday 13th September, our Year 12 Geographers visited the Natural History Museum in Oxford to see the Settlers exhibition. As part of the day, Oxford University Department of Geography had organised a series of workshops and lectures to give students a chance to discuss the subject with some of the leaders in the academic field. Specific sessions during the day included:
- The importance of immigration and empire
- People and Places, Brexit and Britain
- Migration, Migrants and the Media
Throughout the day, students worked with students from schools around the country and got the opportunity to hear from subject specialists about new thinking surrounding the topics they study in lessons that is emerging from universities. D6 students had a really successful day and were commended on their enthusiasm and the thoughtfulness of the questions they asked about different issues.
