Reading Ambassadors attend Oxfordshire Book Awards ceremony

Posted on: 08/11/2024

On Thursday 7th November, a minibus-load of Reading Ambassadors from Didcot Girls' School and St Birinus School attended the ceremony of the 2024 Oxfordshire Book Awards at Magdalen College School. The event saw young people from across the county come together to celebrate the winning books, authors and illustrators. Two of our Year 10 Reading Ambassadors had the following to say about the trip:

The book awards were really fun; Jo Cotteril was hosting and was very funny. In each category (story book, junior fiction and secondary fiction) there was a winning book, and a highly commended book. The authors of each came up to speak about their inspirations when writing and answer a few questions from the audience. Afterwards, there was the opportunity to buy the books and have them signed by the authors (Katie treasures her signed copy of Holey Moley, the winning picture book) as well as having free cake. Our favourite part (after the cake obviously) was answering book related questions for the chance to win free books.
