On Wednesday 27th September, Year 7 students were treated to a talk about Reading for Empathy from the award-winning author Sophie Kirtley.

Sophie's book, 'The Wild Way Home' was one of two titles that Year 7 students had the option to take home to keep on their transition day in July, making the visit all the more special. Sophie was delighted to see how many students had read the book, shown by dozens of postcards written in response on display outside Cockcroft Hall.

Student were clearly delighted to meet an author whose book they had read and the queue to get their books signed trailed out of the library doors!

Following her visit to Didcot Girls' School, Sophie travelled to All Saints Church of England Primary School to deliver a talk entitled 'Wild Reading, Wild Writing' to Year 2 students from across the Ridgeway Education Trust.
